Culinary trainees cooking on the line inside the Fresh Gastro training kitchen and community café

A Fresh Chef Foundation Project

Fresh Gastro

Training Kitchen + Community Café

Newark, New Jersey

Learn.Cook.Serve.Earn.Lead.

A functioning café. A culinary classroom. A workforce training lab. A place where learning becomes real-world experience.

02 / The Idea

This is not
just a café.
This is a classroom.

The best way to learn hospitality is to experience hospitality.

Participants learn inside a functioning food-service environment where culinary education, customer service, business operations and entrepreneurship happen in the same room.

The guest ordering lunch and the trainee running the service window are part of the same curriculum.

The pass:
where instruction turns into service.

03 / The Method

The Fresh Gastro
method.

04 / Live Hospitality

Real customers.
Real food.
Real experience.

The café isn’t a simulation. It creates a live hospitality environment where participants experience the complete restaurant cycle — from the moment an order is placed to the moment a guest is thanked.
